Chief Rabbi of Cyprus Arie Zeev Raskin had met with Tzachi Hangebi, head of the National Security Council of Israel as part of the Israel-Hellenic forum that was held at the University of Nicosia.
The Chief Rabbi gave Mr. Hanegbi a book about the history of the Jewish community of Cyprus which dates back to the 2nd century BC.
The book was recently published as part of the Jewish Museum of Cyprus research program.
Chief Rabbi Raskin has also met with Lut. General Dimokritos Zervakis, Chief of the National Guard of the Republic of Cyprus and blessed him to successfully carry out his mission of protecting all people of Cyprus from threats, internal and external.
He had also met with Mr. Alan Schneider, Director of the B’nai B’rith works Center, an organisation that aims to protect human rights and fight antisemitism all around the world.
“This event marks the continued strengthening of ties between Greece, Cyprus and Israel” – said Chief Rabbi Raskin – “…and we hope this will translate to concrete actions and progress.
